Tottenham are well in the mix to reach the Champions League this season in their first season under Ange Postecoglou.
After losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer, many expected Tottenham to struggle a touch.
But key players have stepped up, as the likes of Heung-Min Son and others have produced the goods.
Of course, for Tottenham, seeing Brazilian striker Richarlison kick into form was key. The 26-year-old has played well recently but struggled in the opening months of the season.
And speaking about his fellow countryman, former Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has said Richarlison was so disappointed with how he’d played.
Tottenham yet to see the best of Richarlison
Speaking to Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel, former Spurs stopper Gomes admitted that Richarlison can get even better for Tottenham.
“I’m not surprised of his current form. I wasn’t surprised the way he was playing. I wasn’t surprised because I know he was going through a few problems so that’s why he was performing that way. He was so disappointed as well but I think now, this is the proper Richarlison. We didn’t see the best of him yet. He will perform even better. Especially now that his confidence is back. I hope he can come back (from injury) stronger. He wants to win and he loves to win, and he gives his all on the pitch,” Gomes said.
Richarlison can do the business
The Brazilian’s recent run of form has been brilliant and Tottenham need more of that from him if they are to get any success.
The key to Harry Kane being such a good goal scorer is he does it so consistently. Richarlison needs to find that in his game and show he can be the main man at Tottenham for years to come.
Ange Postecoglou has put his faith in him and now it’s about repaying that faith.
For Tottenham, new signings are bound to be on the agenda in the summer. However, there is a chance for Richarlison between now and the end of the season to show they don’t need a new number nine.
Hopefully, for Spurs anyway, Gomes’ comments here ring true.
