'The best by far': Kyle Walker says Man City have a 23-year-old player who was miles better than Harry Kane

Kyle Walker has suggested that one Manchester City player was actually so much better than Harry Kane when he was coming through as a youngster.

Kyle Walker has had the opportunity to work with some unbelievable players during his career. He was a key part of the Tottenham Hotspur side which so nearly climbed the domestic mountain under Mauricio Pochettino.

And of course, he has gone on to enjoy a trophy-laden spell following his move to Manchester City. Walker has lifted the Premier League title five times, won six domestic cups, and was part of the team which got its hands on the Champions League last season.

Another player who played a key role in City’s success is Phil Foden. Foden has needed time at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola not rushing his development.

And speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Walker suggested that he would put Foden at the top of the list for the best youngsters he has ever seen – with Harry Kane amongst those also in contention after his time at Tottenham.

“I’m Phil’s biggest critic and I’ll praise him because I think, I’ve said it before, he’s the best young player I’ve ever seen. Ever. Whether that be Harry Kane, Ryan Mason I think was unbelievable when he was at Tottenham, John Bostock, Dean Parrett, all these players that have come and fell off, he’s the best by far,” he said.

Manchester City star has found another gear

It does appear that Foden has found another gear this season. He has scored 11 goals and contributed seven assists in the Premier League. And if City go on and win the Premier League title again this season, many will point to his performance in the Manchester derby recently.

There is no question that it is going to be incredibly exciting to see where Foden’s career will go in the years to come.
