'Oh my good gosh': Kyle Walker blown away by £34m player Arsenal reportedly want to sign

Manchester City star Kyle Walker has lauded a player who has emerged as a summer transfer target for Arsenal.

Arsenal are set for a busy couple of months as Mikel Arteta bids to deliver a Premier League title to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners also have a last-16 Champions League clash against Bayern Munich to look forward to.

But Arteta will undoubtedly have an eye on the summer window as he continues to build an exciting side at Arsenal.

Despite Ben White’s exceptional form at right-back in recent months, there have been claims that Arteta is keen to strengthen in this area of the pitch.

Indeed, it was reported ahead of the January transfer window that Arsenal were eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

And after an impressive season in the Bundesliga, Frimpong has earned an admirer in Kyle Walker.

What Walker has said about Arsenal target Frimpong

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE, Walker was asked about right-backs who have impressed him of late.

The City star then mentioned Frimpong, who has excelled as a wing-back under Xabi Alonso this season.

He said: “Who’s the wing-back at Leverkusen who was at City? Oh my good gosh, how many goals has he scored?”

When told that Frimpong has hit double figures when it comes to goals this season, Walker added: “Incredible.”

Frimpong’s incredible stats for Leverkusen

It’s fair to say that Alonso’s Leverkusen have grabbed the headlines this season as they remain unbeaten in all competitions.

Frimpong has played a key role in their success this term, netting 11 times and providing the same number of assists in 33 appearances.

The 23-year-old reportedly has a £35 million release clause in his contract, which will undoubtedly alert a host of top clubs this summer.

As the Dutch star has mainly operated as a wing-back this season, it’s unclear whether he’d be suited to playing in a back four.

But should Arsenal step up their interest in Frimpong, he could provide Arteta with a completely different option to White on the right-hand side.
