Spain vs Brazil: Preview, predictions and lineups

By James Cormack

After beating England at the new Wembley for the very first time, Dorival Junior's youthful Brazil go in search of a maiden victory over Spain on their opponents' home turf in Tuesday's upcoming friendly.

The two nations haven't faced off in over a decade, with Brazil dominating the head-to-head standings. Spain have only beaten the Selecao once since their 3-1 victory at the 1934 World Cup.

Luis de la Fuente's current outfit head into the midweek friendly at the Bernabeu having been beaten by South American opposition last time out. Spain succumbed to a wonderful Colombian goal on Friday night at the London Stadium - their first defeat in a year.

Brazil endured a miserable 2023 but spirits will be high heading into the 2024 Copa America if they secure another historic victory on Tuesday night.

Spain team news

Spain are, of course, without midfield stars Pedri and Gavi, but De la Fuente should have the same complement of players available to him from Friday's defeat.

There should be several changes to this XI. Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal could occupy the flanks with Alvaro Morata poised to lead the line. Rodri, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal are other experienced options likely to come back into the side.

Barcelona starlet Pau Cubarsi is in contention to earn his first Spain start.

Brazil are without their core for this month's fixtures, but Dorival's inexperienced squad performed well at Wembley. The visitors are currently without Alisson, Ederson, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Casemiro and Neymar, to name a few.

Saturday's match-winner Endrick could earn a start with Richarlison having just recovered from a knee injury.

Gleison Bremer may slot into the backline alongside Juventus teammate Danilo.

Spain vs Brazil score prediction

The Spain that manifested in east London should look completely different in the Spanish capital with De la Fuente set to reintroduce several of his key assets for Tuesday's friendly.

The return of Spain's core will embolden their cause, but they'll be facing up against an ebullient Brazilian outfit. Dorival's men impressed on Saturday night despite their long list of absences and the Real Madrid factor could have a role to play in this one. Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo know what it's like to shine at the Bernabeu.

Perhaps this is when Vini Jr finally has his moment in the sun with the national team.

Prediction: Spain 1-2 Brazil
