'Incredible': Les Ferdinand names three Tottenham players who were unbelievable finishers

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Les Ferdinand has now been speaking about three excellent finishers the club had in the past.

Ferdinand played 145 games for Tottenham scoring 38 goals, a relatively disappointing ratio in the context of his career.

The striker scored 50 goals in 84 appearances at Newcastle United, and 80 in 166 games at Queens Park Rangers.

It’s now well documented that Ferdinand perhaps regrets his decision to leave Newcastle when he did head to London, but that’s for another day.

And whether Ferdinand quite scored the goals he may have imagined at Spurs or not, he certainly knew how to finish in his career.

And when speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast recently, Ferdinand has been talking about some ‘incredible’ finishers the club had in the past when he was coaching.

The England international recalled three players who would sometimes stick around for an extra shooting sessions after training had concluded.

And whilst it’s not the biggest surprise to hear Les Ferdinand praising the likes of Harry Kane, he also mentioned both Christian Eriksen and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Speaking on the podcast, Ferdinand also shared his view that Kane was a better finisher than Alan Shearer with all considered.

He explained: “At times I would take a shooting session after training and there was Eriksen, there was Harry Kane and Adebayor would join in.

“There was a few of them. The level of finishing was just incredible. And he was always in there.

“Right foot and left foot as well, and that’s where I would probably put him above Alan in terms of finishing, in terms of his right foot is as devastating as his left foot.

“Alan is great on his right foot, on his left he’ll get it done, but H is very, very competent on his left side.”

Of course, all three of the names Ferdinand mentioned did score some important goals for Tottenham in the past.

And whilst Kane’s numbers don’t really need reminding, Adebayor netted 42 goals for Spurs in his 113 games up top, whereas Christian Eriksen scored 69 goals in 305 games in midfield.

Three brilliant ball-strikers in their own right, and perhaps Tottenham will look to add some similar profiles to Ange Postecoglou’s squad this summer.

It seems as if the club could do with extra fire-power up top, and a recent update from Jeff Stelling could therefore be cause for encouragement.
