[From Hiroshima] History of handmade sneakers SPINGLE and sole tote bag

A factory that has been making rubber products for 90 years.

The factory that currently makes SPINGLE sneakers was inherited from the parent company and has been in the same location for over 90 years. The location is Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture, located in the southeastern part of Hiroshima Prefecture.

The image was borrowed from the website of Fuchu City Hall, Hiroshima Prefecture, and translated into English.

In addition to SPINGLE Co., Ltd, Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture is home to manufacturing companies that make furniture, woodworking, and industrial products, as well as their headquarters. SPINGLE was born in a place rich in nature, surrounded by mountains and rivers.

This is the scene near SPINGLE's factory in Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture.

When the parent company was founded, it apparently manufactured rubber parts for things like airplanes and shoes. The business then expanded to include rubber boots, women's shoes, and children's shoes.

In the 1990s, a sneaker boom occurred in Japan.

Sneakers made in Japan stopped selling, and sneakers from overseas became popular.

Even under such circumstances, the people who fought hard to keep the factory open created SPINGLE, handmade sneakers with a unique rolled-up sole that are comfortable and long-lasting.

The roots of the design are gym shoes

The wavy pattern on the rubber sole, which is a symbol of SPINGLE, was inspired by the molds used for gym shoes that were made at factories in the past.

In particular, the sole used in the brand's icon 110 is called No.8 and is well known to SPINGLE enthusiasts.

This wave pattern is the SPINGLE icon. There is also a stamp of MADE IN JAPAN.

SPINGLE icon on tote bag

Currently, there are tote bags made with the SPINGLE sole design as a motif.

The product number of the tote bag is SPB-109. The material at the bottom of the bag is EVA, and the bag is finished by sewing and gluing.

The bottom of the bag has a motif of SPINGLE's iconic No.8 sole. The rolled-up sole design is also followed.

The bottom material is EVA, so there is no problem placing it on the floor or road surface. Therefore, it is recommended not only for going out, but also for outdoor activities such as golfing and walking your pet.

In addition to using it as a tote bag, it also comes with a shoulder strap, so you can use it as a shoulder bag. The strap is long enough to be worn crossbody.

There is an external pocket on the surface of the bag. It's convenient because you can get what you need right away.

This tote measures approximately 11 inches wide, 10 inches tall, and 5 inches wide.

The inside of the bag has a plastic bottle holder and a zippered pocket. Like SPINGLE sneakers, the insole is built into the bottom of the bag.

It is the perfect size to fit wallets, small notebooks, books, wallets, smartphones, lunch boxes, etc.

There are seven colors available: red, orange, light gray, olive, black, white, and navy.

This tote bag is often chosen as a gift. Would you like a souvenir from your trip to Japan?
