'Top quality': Carrick urged to play 23 y/o next season, 'he'll definitely play in the Premier League'

Middlesbrough have a number of players out on loan at this moment in time.

One of those who will be playing elsewhere until the end of the season, is Sol Brynn.

Having spent last season on loan in League Two with Swindon Town, the goalkeeper now finds himself in League One for the current campaign.

That has seen him link up with Leyton Orient. So far, the 23-year-old has kept 13 clean sheets in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Os.

Those contributions from the Brynn have helped Leyton Orient 10th in the current League One table.

However, it appears as though the goalkeeper already has his eyes set on playing at an even higher level than that, potentially with Middlesbrough.

Agent on Sol Brynn future

With Brynn now impressing on loan in League One, there will be questions about his future at The Riverside Stadium.

Seny Dieng is currently first choice in Michael Carrick‘s side. The likes of Tom Glover and Jamies Jones are also currently options in that position.

However, Brynn’s agent, Ian Harte, is confident the 23-year-old is both capable and willing to fight for his place in the Middlesbrough side.

Speaking about the goalkeeper’s hopes for the summer, Harte told The Northern Echo:

“He’s Boro through and through. He wants to come in and help that team. His main goal is to finish the season on a high, come back in pre-season ready to smash it and challenge to be the No.1.”

He is also expecting big things from Brynn, as he went on to add:

“I think Sol is good enough to play for Middlesbrough now. Obviously that’s not up to me, it’s up to Michael Carrick and his staff. He definitely wouldn’t disappoint if he played for Middlesbrough in the future.

“I think Sol is a top top goalkeeper. He’ll definitely play in the Premier League. Hopefully he’ll get the opportunity to play at Middlesbrough and win promotion with Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough have a top quality keeper on their hands.”

The goalkeeper currently has two years remaining on his contract at The Riverside Stadium. That secures his future with the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Middlesbrough must keep Sol Brynn

It would seem to make a lot of sense for ‘Boro to try and keep Brynn come the summer.

The goalkeeper has already excelled in League Two. He is now doing the same in League One too.

As a result, the next logical step is for him to be given a chance in the Championship, potentially with Middlesbrough.

Indeed, Jones is out of contract at the end of the season, while Glover’s performances have been somewhat mixed when he has come into the side.

There have even been questions about whether ‘Boro made the right move in loaning out Brynn and bringing in Glover back in the summer.

As a result, giving Brynn a chance could prove to be a sensible move for Middlesbrough to make.

That way, they can benefit from his talents for some time to come yet. Meanwhile his development, if he does indeed become a Premier League quality player, may also allow ‘Boro the chance to make even more money from him in the future, then they would get selling him this summer.
