Controversial Jarrod Bowen claim will get under Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford's skin

Joe Cole has just made a controversial claim about West Ham and Manchester United stars Jarrod Bowen and Marcus Rashford.

West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen impressed for England against Belgium on Tuesday night, whilst Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford missed that game, and Joe Cole has come out with a really bold claim about the two.

Numerous pundits and reporters have been raving about Bowen’s display for England on Tuesday night, with Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett suggesting that the 27-year-old Hammers forward was one of the best players on the pitch.

Joe Cole himself is clearly a big fan of Jarrod as well, and recently told David Moyes to build his entire team around the former Hull City star.

Bowen has gone from strength to strength this season, there’s no doubting that. He has 18 goals and seven assists in 37 games in all competitions to his name so far this term (Transfermarkt).

I personally think that he should be included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros, but Cole’s latest claim is sure to raise some eyebrows…

Bold Jarrod Bowen claim from Joe Cole will get under the skin of Marcus Rashford

The West Ham and Manchester United stars will both be hopeful of being included in Southgate’s EURO 2024 squad.

Rashford, 26, hasn’t been anywhere near his scintillating best this season, with eight goals and six assists in 35 games for Man United to his name (Transfermarkt).

Bowen has clearly outperformed him. That said, Joe Cole’s latest claim about the pair may surprise some people.

When speaking on Channel 4’s production of the England game on Tuesday night, Cole made a slightly controversial claim about Bowen and Rashford, as quoted by the Metro:

“Where am I going to get bang for my buck? I just question Rashford given the stage of his career he’s at and whether every minute on that pitch for England is as meaningful for him as it is for someone like Jarrod Bowen,” the pundit continued. If Bowen goes to the Euros and plays one minute he will be the proudest man in the country.”

Putting my biased aside, I’m not sure that’s a fair summarisation from Cole there. I’m sure that playing for England means just as much to the West Ham ace as it does to the Manchester United star.

Representing your country is a huge honour for every single footballer, and I just think that the former Hammer has underestimated that fact here.

Joe Cole reckons that playing for England may well mean more to Jarrod Bowen than it does to Marcus Rashford but I’m sorry, I just don’t see it that way.
