Tottenham have had to endure a fair bit of heartache over the years when it comes to star players leaving.
Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and even Harry Kane left Spurs in search of more trophies, and after another barren season in terms of silverware, there may be a bit of worry about some more departures this summer.
Indeed, Tottenham have a number of players who, with all due respect, probably deserve to be playing at a higher level, but according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, there’s one key player at Spurs who is very happy with what’s happening.
Key Tottenham player is happy, may sign a new contract soon
Romano spoke about how Heung-Min Son is feeling at Tottenham and his contract situation.
“Not yet. At the moment I’m not aware of something imminent, but it’s a similar situation to Ange Postecoglou. The relationship is excellent, so they are not in a hurry. He is super happy to see what’s going on at Tottenham,’ Romano said.
This is the best news for the club, Son can see that the club are moving in the right direction with the right manager with a good connection between the manager and the club. I think this is the best news possible because Son can see the project and how it’s evolving.
“I don’t think the contract is going to be a problem because the relationship between his agents and the club is also excellent.”
Heung-Min Son is so important
As Romano says, this may well be the best news possible for Tottenham at the moment.
The £22m man is arguably Tottenham’s best player at this moment in time, and the fact that he’s settled and happy at Spurs is huge.
There’s been way too much turnover at Tottenham in recent years with key players coming and going, but Son has been the one constant, and it looks as though it will stay that way for a little while yet.
Son is a fantastic player, and it sounds as though he’ll still be at Tottenham for quite some time.
