'Forgotten': Pundit says Nottingham Forest player no longer does what he did at his old club after 1-1 draw

Pat Nevin has claimed that one Nottingham Forest player no longer does what he did at his old club.

The 60-year-old made the comments when covering the Premier League clash between Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace for BBC Radio 5 Live.

It was a tough afternoon for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side against the south Londoners, who proved to be stubborn opposition on a day where Nottingham Forest largely dominated at the City Ground.

Fortunately, a 61st minute equaliser from Chris Wood ensured Nottingham Forest made up a point on Luton Town – who lost to Tottenham in north London.

During the game, an interesting comment was made about Callum Hudson-Odoi

Pat Nevin says Callum Hudson-Odoi has changed

Well, the Glaswegian believes the Nottingham Forest No.14 has now rediscovered his love of taking players on.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Nevin said: “The wide areas are massively important for Nottingham Forest today.

“Callum Hudson-Odoi has looked full of energy and running. Towards the end of his time at Chelsea he almost seemed hesitant to take on players, but he has forgotten all about that now and loves going one versus one.”

We thought exactly the same while watching the 1-1 draw.

On a day where Nottingham Forest often lacked quality end product, it was Hudson-Odoi who made Dean Henderson work in between the sticks.

The England international registered more shots on target than any other Nottingham Forest player with two efforts on goal – as shown by WhoScored – and gave Joel Ward a real tough time down that left flank.

Nottingham Forest need to make more signings like this

Regardless of whether Nottingham Forest stay up or go down, Ross Wilson needs to make more signings like Hudson-Odoi and find players with a point to prove.

There is far more value in signing talented young footballers who have simply lost their rhythm at a club, like Hudson-Odoi had at Chelsea, than there is in spending huge amounts on in-form names.

Just look at Ross Barkley, to give another example – a player who has shone for Luton Town.

Nottingham Forest spent just £5m to sign the Londoner from Chelsea, and he is arguably worth at least £20m now after rediscovering a bit of his spark at the City Ground.

Hopefully, Wilson can find more bargains like Hudson-Odoi, who annoyed one Nottingham Forest teammate against Crystal Palace, this summer.
