Albert Sambi Lokonga seriously impressed with 22-year-old Arsenal player out on loan this weekend

Albert Sambi Lokonga was left celebrating the performance of another Arsenal loanee yesterday, who won in convincing fashion this weekend.

Lokonga will no doubt be glued to Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City later today, hoping his parent club can pull off a monumental victory.

Mikel Arteta will know how much a win could do for his side’s mental belief, dispelling the memory of last season’s collapse.

In fairness, this is now a very different Arsenal side to the one that lost 4-1 at the Etihad, put into perspective by the fact that it was Rob Holding who was up against Erling Haaland that day.

And with William Saliba available for the tie this time around, and Declan Rice now added to the fold, there’s every reason to believe things will end differently.

That being said, unfortunately Albert Sambi Lokonga wasn’t able to get help Luton Town provide the perfect start to the weekend for Arsenal fans when his side faced Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

Lokonga missed the game owing to injury, but then did have time to applaud the performance of Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.

Okonkwo has nailed down the number one spot at Wrexham in League Two this season, starting 34 matches across all competitions.

The 22-year-old kept another clean sheet for the side against second-place Mansfield Town on Friday, making it 14 for the season.

And when Okonkwo took to Instagram yesterday to celebrate the three points, Lokonga was quick to congratulate his fellow Arsenal loanee.

The keeper uploaded a post with three photos and a caption of: “Big 3 points! 6 games to go”, in reference to Wrexham’s push for promotion.

Lokonga simply replied with a comment saying: “My g” and left a heart emoji.

And for those interested, Wrexham are now in third place with six games left, level on points with second place Mansfield and one point behind Stockport, who do have a game in hand.

It remains to be seen what will happen with Okonkwo’s future at Arsenal, with his contract set to expire after this season.

But it’s clear that the keeper is making big strides in senior football, and would definitely have the talent to be a strong number three, or perhaps even a number two for Mikel Arteta.

All that being said, Arsenal youth coach Jack Wilshere has provided his prediction for today’s monumental clash with Man City.
