Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk seriously impressed by £150k-a-week Liverpool star's display yesterday

Liverpool’s quest to win a second Premier League title continued yesterday as they saw off Brighton to go top of the table over Easter.

Jurgen Klopp’s side needed to come behind to win. But come from behind they did as goals from Luis Diaz and Mo Salah – who had an off day with his finishing – produced in the end.

With Arsenal and Manchester City drawing later in the day, it meant the weekend belonged to Liverpool really. The title race, then, is now in their hands.

In terms of the performance from Liverpool yesterday, there were once again some excellent displays from key individuals.

At the back, Virgil van Dijk and Jarrell Quansah showcased their ever-growing partnership. In goal, Caoimhin Kelleher made a few good saves when needed.

But it was in midfield where Liverpool’s players really stood up to be counted.

And one man, Alexis Mac Allister, seemed to catch the eye of many a pundit and teammate for his display.

Alexis Mac Allister impresses for Liverpool v Brighton

The Argentinian midfielder very much showed up yesterday as he more than justified his whopping £150k-a-week wage at Anfield.

A number of pundits lauded Mac Allister for his performance.

David James admitted he was surprised at just how good the Argentine has been, while Roy Keane even admitted to being super impressed by the Liverpool man after the game.

Indeed, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi praised his former player too, admitting he deserved to doing the business at Liverpool now.

And carrying on the praise over on Instagram, a number of Mac Allister’s teammates, and a familiar former midfielder, lauded him as well.

After Mac Allister had posted on the platform to celebrate the win, skipper Virgil van Dijk and former captain Jordan Henderson were quick to show some love to the midfielder.

In fact, there seemed to be a recurring theme among the players replying, who used the wand emoji to suggest the midfielder had produced some magic in midfield.

After taking a bit of time to settle, Mac Allister now looks firmly at home in a Liverpool shirt.

The title is now within touching distance and after winning the World Cup in 2022, this could cap a remarkable few seasons for Mac Allister.
