Just as it was in 2016, South America's most prestigious international soccer event will be held in the United States. Along with Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Panama, and Jamaica, the USMNT will join the 10 usual CONMEBOL teams as representatives from the CONCACAF region.

That means more games, more goals, and more drama.

It's not long until the action gets underway, so here's everything you need to know about the tournament.

2024 Copa America qualifying

Usually, there is no qualifying cycle for Copa America, with the 10 CONMEBOL teams automatically entering into the tournament, while the only other additional nations taking part do so on an invitational basis.

However, this summer's edition sees six nations from the CONCACAF region entering the tournament, earning the right through a rigorous qualification process. Even as hosts, the United States had to follow this process.

The CONCACAF Nations League A group phase was used in the qualifying process. The United States, Mexico, Canada, and Costa Rica received byes through this section thanks to their CONCACAF ranking.

In Group A, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago made it to the quarterfinals, with Martinique and Guatemala exiting, and Curacao and El Salvador suffering Nations League relegation. And in Group B, it was Jamaica and Honduras making it to the knockouts, with Suriname and Cuba going out, and Haiti and Grenada relegated.

Panama, Jamaica, Mexico, and the United States all made it through the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals and, in the process, to Copa America. That left Canada, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Trinidad and Tobago to battle it out in two playoff matches -- Costa Rica beating Honduras 3-1 to book their sixth Copa America visit, while Canada will make their tournament debut after seeing off Trinidad and Tobago 2-0.

The 2024 Copa America final is slated for Sunday, July 14, kicking off at 8pm EDT.

Back in 2016 -- name the Copa America Centenario to celebrate 100 years of the tournament -- it was MetLife Stadium that hosted the final, won on penalties by Chile after a 0-0 tie with Argentina.

MetLife is once again a host stadium but the final will not be held here again. That honor goes to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
