Report: Liverpool and Chelsea both now want midfielder who is like Zlatan Ibrahimovic

According to the latest reports, Liverpool are interested in a midfielder who has been likened to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It feels like Liverpool are entering a new era under FSG. For years the club’s scouts have kept a radar on the most interesting young talents around the world.

However, for various reasons, Liverpool never really pounced on a lot of the players they kept on their radar. Partly, because Jurgen Klopp’s first team at Anfield had set the bar so high.

But that is about to change with the arrival of the multi-club model, which FSG are now trying to establish after the appointment of Michael Edwards in a new role.

Under the new model, Liverpool will be able to attract more young talents to FSG, who would then go onto play for the club’s owners’ second club – and would ultimately have the goal of moving to Anfield in the future.

This shift in policy could begin as early as this summer, with key appointments like Edwards already being made to prepare for the multi-club model. And there are already players being eyed by the club’s scouts who could fit FSG’s new vision.

Why Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in Bence Dardai

According to the latest report by Football Transfers, both Liverpool and Chelsea are among a host of clubs interested in signing Hertha Berlin’s 18-year-old midfielder Bence Dardai.

Dardai has won the U17 European Championships with Germany last year and is extremely highly regarded.

He is already regularly playing first team football at Hertha Berlin, and made 17 goal contributions in 21 games for the club’s U19 team last season.

Standing at 1.89 metres tall, Dardai is blessed with great technical ability and energy. He was monitored by Liverpool scouts at the Pinatar Cup earlier this month, where Jayden Danns, Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo lifted the trophy for England’s U18 side.

The reason why many clubs are interested in Dardai’s services is because he has a contract expiring at the end of the season. That means Liverpool could potentially land him for free.

Who is Bence Dardai and who has compared him to Zlatan Ibrahimovic?

Dardai is the youngest of three footballing brothers. His older brothers Palko and Marton both also play for Hertha Berlin, and have represented the senior Hungarian national team.

His father, Pal, was also a Hungarian international football and is regarded as a Hertha legend. He is currently the manager of Hertha as well – on his third stint at the club – but has also managed the Hungarian national team.

Bence’s grandfather, also named Pal, was also a former football in Hungary’s top flight and played for Vojvodina in the Yugoslav top tier during the 1980s as well.

Football is pretty much in his blood, and in an interview with Bild a few years ago, Bence’s brother, Palko revealed that in the family he is referred to as Ibrahimovic.

“We call him [Bence Dardai] Ibrahimovic, because he is a very similar character,” Palko said.
