Jelly Roll Reveals the One Fan Interaction That Has Meant the Most to Him

iHeartRadio Q102's Jingle Ball 2023 - Show

It seemed like every stop on Jelly Roll’s Backroad Baptism Tour last year led to yet another viral video of him being cool with a fan in the crowd.

There was the time Jelly called out a classmate who was holding up the singer’s school picture from elementary school. A few weeks later, another video on TikTok amassed thousands of views after the star dedicated a song to a fan’s late sister, who was waving a sign in the air.

No matter how many times it happens, we can’t get enough of Jelly Roll making special memories with his fans.

Out of all of those moments, however, there is one that stands out the most to CMA Award-winning singer. Us Weekly recently put Jelly Roll on the spot when they asked which fan interaction has been his favorite.

On Sept. 1, 2023, the Backroad Baptism Tour made a stop at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It was during this show when Jelly Roll halted his performance to recognize a fan who was wearing a Vietnam veteran hat.

“Seeing that man and his wife enjoy the concert was one of the most surreal moments of tour – I was proud to have him as a fan,” Jelly Roll tells Us Weekly.

A video of the veteran went viral following the show. In the short clip, Jelly Roll can be seen telling the fan, “I hope you enjoyed the hell out of tonight.”

The video screens at the back of the stage show the veteran saluting Jelly Roll as the crowd continues to cheer:

“I asked security to bring him backstage and we talked for close to an hour — it really meant a lot to me,” the 39-year-old singer says.

That night, the veteran was told that he would be “welcome forever” at Jelly Roll’s concerts.

“I’ll tell you this, you’ll never have to buy another ticket to my show.”

Jelly Roll’s next tour kicks off in April. He is set to play Country Thunder Arizona in Florence, Ariz., on April 13, before heading to Detroit for an April 24 show at the Filmore.
