Castrol Save of the Month nominees - March 2024

The Premier League's finest goalkeepers were once again at their brilliant best in March.

Throughout the month, the men between the sticks made wonderful save, after wonderful save, after wonderful save.

Here's the six saves that have made the March Castrol Save of the Month shortlist:

1. Matz Sels vs Liverpool

Veteran goalkeeper Matz Sels showed off his cat-like reflexes in the clash with Liverpool early in March.

Sels dove quickly down to his right to deny a Darwin Nunez header from point blank range, scooping the ball off the line with his right hand before quickly getting back to his knees to gather it in his arms.

2. Neto vs Burnley

Neto has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League for the last number of years, so his performances and saves in March weren't a surprise to many Bournemouth fans.

The pick of saves during the month came at Turf Moor, where he prevented an expertly struck free kick from Jacob Bruun Larsen from crossing the goal line with a strong left handed stop.

3. Aaron Ramsdale vs Brentford

Aaron Ramsdale played the full 90 minutes of the eventual 2-1 win for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international made a brilliant save in the second half of the game against the Bees, being at full stretch to tip a Nathan Collins header over the crossbar.

4. Arijanet Muric vs Brentford

Drafted in for James Trafford recently, Arijanet Muric has been a key reason why Burnley's form improved during the second half of March.

The Kosovo international earned the number one jersey with a stunning performance in a win over Brentford - the club's first win of 2024 - making five saves during the game, including one which denied Yoane Wissa in a one-v-one situation.

5. Mark Flekken vs Man Utd

Brentford put in arguably their best performance of the season in their draw with Manchester United at the Gtech Community Stadium at the end of March, with Mark Flekken being among the players who starred for the Bees.

Flekken made one particularly great save in the game, flinging himself quickly to his right to palm a venomous Rasmus Hojlund strike well clear of danger.

6. Bart Verbruggen vs Liverpool

Bart Verbruggen impressed in Brighton's spirited defeat to Liverpool on Easter Sunday, making six saves in total.

The pick of the bunch was his final save of the game, racing across his line to spoon a Mohamed Salah effort off of the goal line.
