Former German international Lars Stindl has said he plans to stay in the football business after ending his playing career in summer.

Long-time Borussia Mönchengladbach captain Stindl returned to his boyhood club, second division Karlsruhe, last year and said recently he would hang up his boots after the season.

The 35-year-old forward earned 11 caps and scored the 1-0 winner in the final against Chile to give Germany the 2017 Confederations Cup trophy.

"I will stay involved in football because I simply love it - that's for sure," Stindl told publishing house RND.

"Everything else will be determined, I'll listen to it all and then I'll be ready for a new job. Until then, I want to take a look behind the scenes here and there, even at other clubs - I'm really interested in that."

Stindl said he has received some offers and had "really great and exciting talks."

The veteran added he was not out to get an official farewell match in Karlsruhe.

"Everything is fine if I can play once more and get a bunch of flowers. Anything else is not necessary," Stindl said.

"I am simply happy and grateful that I could play again for my home club after 15 years - who can say that about themselves."
