'One of the best forwards in the Prem': Tennis star Andy Murray stunned by Arsenal star after win over Brighton

Arsenal have returned to the top of the Premier League table after running out 3-0 winners over Brighton on Saturday.

It wasn’t completely plain sailing for the Gunners, who rode their luck a few times early in the second half, but they ultimately got the job done.

Arsenal got the opener from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute, after Tariq Lamptey conceded a spot kick against Gabriel Jesus.

Bukayo Saka stepped up and duly sent Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen the wrong way to give the Gunners the lead.

Arsenal then extended their advantage in the 62nd minute as Jorginho cut the ball back for the in-form Kai Havertz to slam home.

Then, with just four minutes left, Leandro Trossard raced through on goal from Havertz’s pass and chipped the ball over Bart Verbruggen for the third.

Arsenal are now top of the Premier League table on 71 points, one ahead of Liverpool – who play on Sunday – and Manchester City.

Andy Murray hails Arsenal star Kai Havertz

Havertz, a player who was often criticised in the first half of the season, once again delivered for the Gunners.

The £65million summer signing now has a very impressive five goals and four assists from his last seven league games.

Indeed, tennis star Andy Murray took to X after the game to declare Havertz “easily one of the best forwards in the Prem”.

Murray, who supports both the Gunners and Scottish Premiership side Hibernian – plus the Scotland national team – was blown away by the 24-year-old attacker.

Havertz, who joined from Chelsea in the summer, needed some time to get up to speed at Arsenal, all the while being effectively written off by some fans and rivals.

Now, he’s an indispensable player for the Gunners, and if he keeps up the good work, he may just help the north Londoners achieve glory in the coming weeks.
