Russian forces struck nine communities in Ukraine's northeastern Sumy Oblast in 21 separate attacks throughout the day, the regional administration reported on April 6. Close to 80 explosions were reported in Sumy Oblast over the past 24 hours.

The communities of Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Kransopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Boromlia, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda, and Svesa communities were targeted.

Throughout the day, Russia assailed the border communities with mortar, artillery, and grenade launcher attacks. Two communities were also targeted with missiles and explosives, according to the Sumy Oblast Military Administration.

No casualties or damages to civilian infrastructure were reported.

The town of Krasnopillia, with a pre-war population of about 7,700 residents, experienced the bulk of the attacks, with 28 explosions reported in the area. The town is located more than 10 kilometers west of the border with Russia's Belgorod Oblast.

Sumy Oblast borders Russia's Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod oblasts.

Russian attacks against the region have become increasingly destructive in recent weeks, killing and injuring civilians. On April 3, a Russian missile attack against the Krasnopillia community killed one person and injured two, according to the regional administration.

Ukrainian authorities continue evacuating communities in the northeastern Sumy Oblast close to the Russian border.
