Alan Shearer claims 'ruthless' Arsenal star has simply been 'incredible' in 2024 so far

Arsenal did some impressive business last summer with the arrivals of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and David Raya.

The north London side clearly improved the overall quality of the squad with Arsenal now looking like outside favourites for both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Yet if there’s one signing that has caught people by surprise, it’s the arrival of Havertz, who since joining from Chelsea has looked like a player reborn at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.

And writing for the Premier League’s official website, league legend Shearer has bene full of praise for Havertz for the impact the Germany international has had for Arsenal.

This year has seen the 24-year-old play in the centre-forward role after being tried out in the left-sided eight position in the midfield, something Arteta could return to later down the line.

Yet in 2024, Havertz’s clear role for Arsenal is as man leading the line, and the former Chelsea star’s form since the turn of the year has been nothing short of fantastic.

Shearer said: “Ruthless again for Arsenal. He’s been incredible for them since the turn of the year and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet. He’s been an outstanding signing.”

Whilst Havertz is finding immense success in the centre-forward role for Arsenal, there’s a real chance that this isn’t even the final form of what the German will become in north London.

Like Goku from Dragon Ball, the many forms of Havertz that the 24-year-old can achieve are yet to be realised, with more evolution expected from the former Chelsea man’s game at Arsenal.

Indeed, a return to midfield could still be on the cards for Havertz, and if there’s one man who can manage to pull off this change, it’s Arteta, who can see a vision few of us would have expected.
