Injured Hammer pictured back in training, and he could well play vs Leverkusen

One injured West Ham United player has been snapped back in training ahead of our Europa League clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

West Ham face Bayer Leverkusen in the first-leg of the Europa League quarter-finals tomorrow night out in Germany.

David Moyes has some concerns ahead of the match. Edson Alvarez is suspended, whilst Jarrod Bowen, Alphonse Areola and Nayef Aguerd are all injury concerns ahead of the game at BayArena.

Leverkusen have been in exceptional form this season, and they’re currently unbeaten in all competitions.

Xabi Alonso’s men are sitting 16 points clear of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, but the Leverkusen gaffer reminded everyone how seriously he’s taking the Europa League clash with the Hammers.

The West Ham players will have to be at their very best if we are to leave Germany with a positive result to take back to East London.

However, Moyes will clearly be forced into a couple of changes…

News broke yesterday that Jarrod Bowen could be missing for up to three weeks after he picked up an injury against Wolves on Saturday.

Not having the 27-year-old available for one of the Leverkusen games, or both of them, is a complete and utter unmitigated diaster.

However, there is some good news for the West Ham fans to digest….

Nayef Aguerd was snapped back in training today having only played for us once since February 17th, via the club’s official website (photo number 8).

The 28-year-old hasn’t been great for us this season, but he may well be needed tomorrow.

There has been talk of Moyes reverting to a back five for the Leverkusen vs West Ham clash, and if he does, the Moroccan will be in with a shout of starting.

Personally I would start Angelo Ogbonna or Aaron Cresswell over Aguerd, but we all know how highly Moyes rates Aguerd.

Now that he’s back in training, it will be interesting to see if he’s even in contention for any minutes between now and the end of the season.
