'For a while': Fabrizio Romano confirms that one club keeps scouting Newcastle's Alexander Isak

Newcastle United have some top talents in their squad.

While we’ve not been able to see that often enough this season during an inconsistent campaign for Newcastle, few would doubt the tools Eddie Howe has on offer.

One of those is Bruno Guimaraes.

The likes ofGarth Crooks have been talking up the Brazilian’s importance at St James’ Park as the midfielder continues to prove the one constant in an otherwise often-turbulent campaign.

Anthony Gordon, meanwhile, has been described as one of the Premier League’s leading players this season after a fantastic time of it so far.

Then, there’s Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international has battled through injury issues to score a remarkable 19 goals in 33 games across all competitions this season.

Isak has been hailed as a “generational talent” by pundits and it’s not particularly surprising to hear that Howe wants to build around him.

While Newcastle have been strong in their stance that the 24-year-old won’t be sold, Fabrizio Romano has provided some fresh insight.

Fabrizio Romano names the club who keep scouting Alexander Isak

Indeed, speaking to CaughtOffside, he claimed that Premier League leaders Arsenal have been scouting Isak for a while. Their interest is said to stretch as far back as the striker’s time with Real Sociedad.

Romano, however, does add that there have been no direct talks and that he doesn’t see Newcastle selling two key players in one window, amid an apparent acceptance from the club that Guimaraes may have to be sold.

“Alexander Isak is another Newcastle player attracting interest, and Arsenal have always appreciated him, even when he was at Real Sociedad. They’ve been scouting him for a while and he’s considered a really talented striker, and with the style they have I think he’s appreciated as a good fit for that style,” he said.

“However, I’m not aware of any direct contacts or negotiations for Arsenal to sign Isak, so it’s not something concrete at this point. I also don’t see Newcastle selling two or three important players – I think they will have to make a decision on who is the one to leave the club.

“And with Arsenal, they have multiple candidates who could come in up front, with Viktor Gyokeres one of the names on their list, as well as others, while a deal for Isak won’t be easy.”

Alexander Isak has already told Newcastle what he wants to do this summer

Luckily for Newcastle, Isak has already sent a clear message on his future.

He has insisted he wants to remain at the club and spoke of how much he enjoys it.

“I came here for the project, I absolutely love playing here, I really feel at home. I want to finish this season in a good way for me and the team,” he said earlier this month (via The Evening Standard).

“I love playing here.”

Arsenal may have indeed to have look elsewhere…
