17-year-old youngster Chelsea want to sign has just kept Kylian Mbappe quiet in the Champions League

Chelsea fans and players alike will have been forced to watch pretty much anyone else playing in Europe this season rather than themselves.

This has included tuning in recently to the Champions League quarter-finals, with the Premier League’s representatives being Arsenal and Manchester City.

There are a number of figures associated with the club in one way or another that some will take an interest in, and this includes former boss Thomas Tuchel, who is looking to do a job on the Gunners.

There will also be interest in watching players the Blues have attempted to sign in the past to see if they missed a trick or not, and one of those was in action last night.

Chelsea interested in signing Pau Cubarsi

It has been reported in the past that Chelsea are weighing up a move for Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi, who has established himself at his club at the age of just 17.

Last night he became the youngest player to be on the winning side of a Champions League quarter-final, as his side won 3-2.

Pau Cubarsi dominates Kylian Mbappe in Champions League

They managed to nullify the threat of superstar Kylian Mbappe throughout the majority of the first leg, restricting him to the bare minimum on the ball.

As perTNT Sports, he failed to register a shot on target and completed just one dribble, whilst also winning just three of his 12 duels.

If Chelsea were hoping they could manufacture a deal for Cubarsi on the cheap, his performance last night has perhaps ruined any chance they have of that.

It has been reported that centre-back is certainly a role the club are going to look to strengthen at the end of the season, and signing a player whose best days are likely ahead of him would certainly fit the mantra laid out by Todd Boehly at the club so far.
