Owen Hargreaves raves about brilliant Hammer, Joe Cole says he embarrassed Leverkusen player

Owen Hargreaves and Joe Cole absolutely raved about one West Ham United player’s display vs Bayer Leverkusen tonight.

West Ham put in a superb all-round performance at the BayArena against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League tonight.

Every single player to a man put in a proper shift, and David Moyes nearly got his game-plan 100% spot on against the Bundesliga leaders.

It was just incredibly unlucky that we conceded two late goals, and our task next week now seems like an impossible one.

Losing Lucas Paqueta and Emerson Palmieri to suspension for the second-leg is a major blow, but there were plenty of positives to take away from the game.

We defended so much better as a team and pressed with a lot more aggression and tenacity than we have done before this season.

There were a few standout performances, but one man seemed to garner most of the praise from fans and pundits alike…

Hargreaves and Cole blown away by West Ham ace vs Leverkusen

Owen Hargreaves and Joe Cole were on punditry duty in the TNT Sports studio tonight for the big Europa League clash.

And both of them were hugely impressed with one Hammer in particular…

Hargreaves started the praise, when speaking on TNT Sports tonight (April 11th, 8:55pm):

“He does brilliantly, Antonio, he does so well.”

And when speaking about Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah, Joe Cole said:

“He’s been embarrassed by Antonio on one occasion.”

Michail Antonio truly was unplayable tonight. He ran the Leverkusen defenders ragged all night long, Jonathan Tah especially.

The 34-year-old seems to have rediscovered his best form over the past few weeks, and long may that continue.

Who knows, maybe the fact that he missed around three months of the season through injury earlier on in the campaign is the reason why he’s so fresh now.

West Ham need him to be on his very best form once again this time next week against Bayer Leverkusen at the London Stadium.

The Jamaica international deserves all the flowers he gets tonight. We are so much better when he’s playing and firing on all cylinders.
