A football player was whipped by a spectator after the Saudi Supercup final between Al Ittihad and Al Hilal on Thursday evening.
As shown in video footage posted on X, formerly Twitter, Al Ittihad striker Abderrazak Hamdallah looked to make his way out of the pitch after his side, who has the likes of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante within their ranks, was thrashed 4-1.
However, he became involved in an altercation with a spectator who was seated just above the tunnel and squirted water in the direction of the crowd.
The supporter in question pulled out a whip and lashed twice in the direction of Hamdallah. Players and officials stepped in, as they sought to drag Hamdallah away from trouble, while the fan was escorted from his seat by stewards.
Exact reasons for the incident are still unclear. Hamdallah scorer Al Ittihad's sole goal of the match.
