Rafael van der Vaart says something happened with Micky van de Ven that left him with ‘goosebumps’ on Sunday

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Rafael van der Vaart has said something happened on Sunday that gave him goosebumps.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side took all three points in their game on the weekend against Nottingham Forest after a much improved second half.

Once again, Tottenham found themselves enduring a turbulent first 45 minutes after conceding following Timo Werner‘s cross being turned home by Forest’s Murillo.

It was left to two defenders to seal the points with strikes from Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro proving enough for the win.

The Dutchman’s strike was the pick of the bunch after he slammed the ball beyond the Forest keeper from the edge of the box.

But it is not his impressive finish which left Van der Vaart with goosebumps after watching Spurs take the points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Van der Vaart was left wowed by what he saw involving Van de Ven

The signing of Van de Ven is proving to be one of the best pieces of business Daniel Levy and Spurs have done in a long time.

Having made the move from Wolfsburg in the summer for £43m, it has already been suggested it won’t be long until the likes of Real Madrid come calling.

Although Spurs will not be wanting to lose the 22-year-old any time soon, if he was to leave they would surely make a healthy profit on him.

The goal on the weekend was Van de Ven’s second of the season but his first in the north London home.

And after the game, fans cheered his name along to the song ‘Give It Up’ which was formerly used for his compatriot, Van der Vaart.

Speaking in the wake of the game, Van der Vaart has told Tottenham’s website seeing the footage of the fans singing the song gave him goosebumps.

“I got goosebumps – he has stolen my song! I know how that must feel to be flying at Spurs,” he said.

“I remember the fans used to sing that for me, now for him. The fans are special, you know that. I still really love them.”

Interesting stats that back Jamie Redknapp’s Virgil van Dijk comparison

After the victory over Nottingham Forest, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp compared Van de Ven to Virgil van Dijk.

The Liverpool man is widely considered as the best centre-back in the Premier League.

And these stats show that comparison may not be too far of a stretch despite Van de Ven being just 22-years-old and in his first Premier League season.
