Journalist wowed as Sunderland share major off-field decision with 'immaculate' announcement video

Journalist Michael Graham has praised Sunderland for this recent, off-field announcement.

Sunderland are certainly at a crossroads right now.

On the pitch, they’ve fallen hard this season, going from top-six hopefuls to looking over their shoulder at the drop zone last month.

But things have steadied in the last few games.

Mike Dodds‘ side have now lost just one of their last five in the Championship, following a 0-0 draw vs Leeds United in midweek.

And the Black Cats have kept four clean sheets in those five, albeit with a calamitous 5-1 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers in the middle of those games.

The Black Cats return to action vs West Brom in the Championship this weekend.

It’s another tough game against tough opponents for Dodds and his players, but after the Leeds game especially, there’s an improving atmosphere among fans.

And Sunderland have added to the feel-good factor brewing among fans with the announcement of their newest kit manufacturers.

Sunderland will have their kits manufactured by Hummel for next season.

And giving his verdict on the reunion, which was paired with a well-received video of Sunderland teams of old in Hummel kits, journalist Graham posted on X:

Sunderland kit manufacturers

Sunderland partner with Hummel for the first time in 20 years.

Danish sportswear company Hummel made Sunderland kits between 1988 and 1994.

During that time, the Black Cats won promotion from the old Division 2, albeit being relegated straight after, with iconic names like Marco Gabbiadini and Don Goodman in the side.

Sunderland have had an array of kit manufacturers since.

All of Avec, Asics, Nike, Diadora, Lonsdale, Umbro, Adidas, and Nike have made Sunderland’s jerseys, with Nike the current manufacturer.

But Nike have received criticism in recent seasons for their rehashing of kits and designs among their clients.

So news of a change, and a reunion with Hummel, has understandably gone down well with fans.

Sunderland return to action vs West Brom

Sunderland are back in Championship action against West Brom on Saturday.

The Black Cats sit in 13th place of the Championship table for this one whilst West Brom sit in 5th, needing a win to solidify their place in the top six.

A win would keep Dodds’ men in 13th but close the gap to Bristol City in 12th to one point, should the Robins lose at home to Huddersfield Town.
