O'Neil starts 'magnificent' ace, £8.5m star dropped: Wolves predicted XI v Nottingham Forest

Wolves travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon with a bitter taste in their mouth following last week’s result.

Wolves were denied a 98th-minute equaliser against West Ham as Max Kilman‘s header was wrongly ruled out by VAR, with Gary O’Neil left cursing such a ‘terrible’ decision.

The Wanderers have been let down by VAR on several occasions this term and they’ll hope it doesn’t cost them more points this weekend.

Following their defeat against the Hammers, Wolves are six points behind seventh with a game in hand.

It’s looking like an uphill battle to qualify for Europe, but a win over Nottingham Forest this weekend would significantly boost their chances as O’Neil welcomes back multiple first-team players.

Wolves team news vs Nottingham Forest

O’Neil has issued a positive update on several Wolves stars ahead of their trip to the City Ground.

He’s revealed that Hwang Hee-Chan will travel with the squad following a lengthy spell on the sidelines while centre-back Craig Dawson is also in contention to play.

Meanwhile, following his injury scare on Saturday, O’Neil delivered further positive news on Rayan Ait-Nouri, who has carried the Old Gold through their injury crisis.

Revealing that his initial injury was only a ‘minor issue’, the 22-year-old will likely start against the Reds while Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Pedro Neto are still set to be out for a long period.

Wolves predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest

Statistically the second-best goalkeeper in the Premier League, Jose Sa is having a fine season for Wolves and looks set to play his 35th match of the season.

Although Craig Dawson returned to the squad against West Ham, he was left out of the starting XI with O’Neil choosing to start Max Kilman, Santiago Bueno and Toti Gomes.

Bueno, who they signed for £8.5 million from Girona last summer, will likely drop out for Dawson, rekindling their formidable trio.

Joining the Englishman in the starting XI is Nelson Semedo, with the Portuguese ever-present at right wing-back under O’Neil this term.

With Rayan Ait-Nouri flourishing in an advanced role, the former Bournemouth manager won’t want to play him deeper and that could open the door for Hugo Bueno to make a rare start at left wing-back.

In the engine room, the Wolves boss has no reason to switch their instrumental midfield duo of Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes.

As for their attack, Pablo Sarabia will float in and create from the right, Ait-Nouri will continue wreaking havoc down the left and Matheus Cunha should be thrown into the side up top.

Hailed as ‘magnificent’ by talent scout Antonio Mango previously, the Brazilian deserves to start after playing 49 minutes from the bench in the last two matches.
