‘Might actually’: Jason Cundy has just predicted Liverpool’s title chances, makes Arsenal point

Jason Cundy has predicted whether or not Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could beat Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are the three teams aiming to become champions of England this campaign.

The Gunners are at the top of the Premier League table with 71 points from 31 matches, level on points with Liverpool, who are second on goal difference. Defending champions City are third on 70 points.

Liverpool have been superb all this season, but in recent games, they have not been at their best.

Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to win against Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend despite having a number of chances.

Then on Thursday evening, Liverpool slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Atalanta at Anfield in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals.

Former Chelsea player Jason Cundy has said that Arsenal, who will take on Aston Villa this weekend, or City will not collapse like Liverpool did on Thursday evening.

The talkSPORT pundit thinks that the defeat to Atalanta at Anfield might have put an end to Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

Jason Cundy makes Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City point

Cundy said on talkSPORT (4:28 pm, April 12, 2024): “I think last night’s defeat might actually kill their league title hopes.

“The reason I say that is I don’t think City or Arsenal are capable of a performance like that. I don’t think Arsenal, even though you put out whatever you put out, Arsenal or Man City, I don’t think. No one saw it coming.”

What Jurgen Klopp said after Liverpool defeat

The defeat to Atalanta was really bad for Liverpool, but manager Jurgen Klopp is confident that his players will bounce.

Liverpool will take on Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Premier League this weekend.

Ahead of the game, Klopp has made it clear that his team will bounce back.

BBC Sport quotes Klopp as saying: “I don’t think it’s a general low point. But you can see performance-wise it was a low point.

“The good thing about a really bad performance is that you can play better, so we should start from there. First and foremost, this must feel bad and it does.”

Klopp continued: “We have to show a reaction, definitely. That is 100% clear. I will think about that but it’s not the first time in my life that I lost a football game unfortunately. We will show a reaction – I can promise.”
