Quick and easy pet painting activity is the perfect way to bond with your cat or dog

The internet is currently obsessed with a pet painting hack to spark your dog or cat’s creativity using nothing but a Ziploc, paint, and a piece of paper.

Enrichment activities are crucial for your pets to grow up as happy as possible, and they need not be overly complicated either. There are countless toys on the market, but a truly enriching experience can be created using household objects, as seen recently with a viral Instagram post.

How to create Picasso-level art with your cats and dogs

Though clips of the enrichment are now on just about every social media platform imaginable, the trend initially began with UK content creator Jo (@fatthighsandmermaidpants).

In her clip, which has since amassed nearly 29 million views, Jo recorded her two cats on her hardwood floor. Both of the felines, one black, and one ginger, had a brilliant time as they rubbed themselves against a piece of paper in a Ziploc bag.

Inside the bag, Jo had poured a range of paint colors in the hopes of creating some truly outstanding artwork. To incentivize the process, she scattered catnip onto the ground, but you could use kibble or treats if dealing with a dog.

In the caption, she said: “To answer the questions, it is paper and paint inside THICK plastic bags, with catnip on top. No contact with the paint and no mess! The ginger one can’t retract his claws but the bags were fine. The results are framed and ready to go on the wall. I posted a pic a couple of days after posting this.”

Fans are scrambling to the art store for pet painting supplies

Naturally, Jo’s initial post sparked a massive reaction from pet lovers, many of whom said they were heading to the shop immediately.

One person questioned: “OK, now I need to go get some art supplies for my cats!! 😃 I’m wondering how you got them out of the plastic without smearing the art?”

“We are saying goodbye to my orangie this week and I am 1000% doing this beforehand. Hopefully, he has enough spunk left in him to do it!” another person said.

A third confessed: “My cat would just start eating the plastic.”
