‘Nowhere near his normal level’: Tony Cascarino says ‘unbelievable’ Liverpool player’s form has dipped

TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has named the Liverpool player who is not in great form at the moment.

Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat to Atalanta at Anfield in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie on Thursday evening.

It came aftera 2-2 draw with Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Liverpool should have won the game against United because of the sheer number of chances that they had, especially in the first half.

Although Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot against the Red Devils, he had chances from open play which he failed to take.

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has noted that it is not clicking for Salah at the moment.

The Times and talkSPORT pundit thinks that the 31-year-old Egypt international forward is not at his normal level, but he has still backed him to finish among the top three goalscorers in the Premier League this season.

Salah has scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season, one fewer than Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and two fewer than Manchester City star Erling Haaland.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah criticised

Cascarino wrote about Salah in The Times: “He has been unbelievable for Liverpool over the years but just at the moment it’s not clicking.

“If you take away his penalties — five of his 17 league goals have come from the spot — he has been nowhere near his normal level. But I still think he will finish in the top three.”

Liverpool could sell Mohamed Salah

Jurgen Klopp will step down as the Liverpool manager at the end of the season, and there is a chance that Mohamed Salah could leave Anfield as well.

HITC revealed earlier this week that there is interest in Salah from the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ittihad could be the club that signed the former Chelsea player.

We also reported that new footballing chief Michael Edwards is well aware of the interest in Salah and ready to sell him, if, as expected, the Egypt international forward makes it clear he is ready to make the move to the Middle East.

As HITC revealed in March, Salah will become the highest-paid player in the world if he makes the switch to the Saudi Pro League.
