Rangers predicted XI vs Ross County: Clement makes three attacking changes

Our Rangers predicted XI for the side’s weekend trip to face Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers have benefitted from a week’s rest ahead of the Staggies contest this Sunday after yet another postponement in midweek.

Dundee vs Rangers at Dens Park was embarrassingly called off for a second time on Wednesday when the pitch was once again deemed unsafe to play on by match referee Don Robertson.

It comes after Rangers played out an enthralling 3-3 draw with Celtic in the Old Firm which Philippe Clement perfectly described as a fantastic advert for Scottish football during his pre-Ross County press conference.

But just three days later, the image of the game in Scotland came crashing back down to cringeworthy normality when a top-flight pitch was ruled unplayable in the middle of April.

Attention for Rangers in the meantime turns to Ross County this weekend and the chance to extend their impressive unbeaten streak against the Staggies.

Clement will be missing Mohamed Diomande for the game due to a thumb injury, but may well welcome back left-back Ridvan Yilmaz.

And the impact both Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima had off the bench against Celtic could strongly influence Clement’s starting XI decision-making.

Starts for Abdallah Sima, Rabbi Matondo & Todd Cantwell

All of Sima, Matondo and Todd Cantwell were brought on as substitutes in the Old Firm as they sought to haul Rangers back into the contest.

Sima made an instant impact by equalising on the 86th minute via a deflected strike to make it 2-2, before Matondo rescued a point for Gers with a stunning curling effort.

With that, the pair are very likely to be rewarded this weekend. Sima is a huge goal threat having netted 16 goals for Rangers [Transfermarkt], while Matondo’s confidence will be understandably sky high.

Cantwell – who was involved in a post-match scuffle with Callum McGregor – will be expected to replace Tom Lawrence as the No10 in Dingwall.

Lawrence is one to be frequently rotated by Clement given his injury record so that swap would make sense for the Light Blues.

Elsewhere, Clement told the media ahead of the postponed Dundee clash in midweek that Yilmaz would make a full recovery from his injury within a ‘matter of days’.

So we have assumed the Turk will make the starting line-up, with the versatile Dujon Sterling moved into midfield alongside John Lundstram to replace Diomande.
