'I'm told': Fabrizio Romano now shares whether Osimhen is actually close to PSG move amid Chelsea interest

Fabrizio Romano has been discussing the future of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who continues to be linked to Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Victor Osimhen was really close to joining PSG, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now given an update on his situation.

Chelsea appear to be in the market for a new striker, with the 25-year-old thought to be at the top of the Blues’ list.

This season, Osimhen has scored 14 goals in 26 appearances for Napoli.

Some Chelsea fans will be hoping that the Nigerian is the man leading their line next season.

PSG supporters would also probably welcome Osimhen to the capital of France, especially with Kylian Mbappe set to depart the club when his contract expires in the summer.

However, there are no guarantees that he will be going there in a boost to Chelsea.

In response to rumours about Osimhen being close to signing for PSG, Romano said on Substack: “From what I’m told at the moment, nothing is advanced and PSG have made absolutely no decision on whether they want to go for a centre-forward or a different kind of player.”

Serie A top scorers

Osimhen has scored 12 times in Serie A this term, meaning only three players have netted on more occasions than the Nigeria international: Olivier Giroud, Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez.

Martinez is the top scorer in the division, finding the back of the net 23 times.

The Argentine has actually been linked with a move to Chelsea, though Osimhen still appears to be the club’s main target.

They are both top strikers, however. If Chelsea can land either, then they will be a much better team next season, one ready to compete for the top four again.

Until then, Mauricio Pochettino just has to hope that the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer can score enough goals between now and the end of the campaign to help the club actually achieve something, be that winning the FA Cup or qualifying for the Europa League.
