Man Utd star Mainoo talks superstitions

England international Kobbie Mainoo took part in a Q&A with Manchester United fans and opened up about his life both on the pitch and off it.

The Red Devils player opened up about his admiration for one United legend, while Mainoo also revealed a skill he is keen to learn from club teammate Casemiro.

Mainoo was asked about his United teammates and the one player who has a skill attribute that he wished he possessed in his arsenal.

The United midfielder admitted that he wasn’t superstitious and didn’t follow any pre-match routines, though he does commit to eating the same meal every time before a match.

Responding to one fan (via Manchester United’s official website), Mainoo said: “I mean, I’m not very superstitious. I try not to be superstitious. So I just kind of do what happens.

“I have the same meal and that’s about it. I have pesto, pasta and salmon but, other than that, I just kind of do what I do.

“It’s not whether I’m not wearing the same underwear. I don’t have a lucky pair of underpants or anything like that. I just, you know, try to prepare what I do, listen to music.”

Mainoo talks Man Utd memories

Mainoo revealed to one fan that his favourite club moment was Wayne Rooney’s sensational overhead kick against Manchester City.

United legend Wayne Rooney scored his stunning overhead kick to seal an emphatic 2-1 win for the Red Devils in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford in 2011.

“I don’t remember my first game,” Mainoo said.

“Favourite United moment? Maybe Rooney’s overhead kick. I remember seeing that against City.”

Mainoo was asked about his favourite United match that he has seen, with the England midfielder unsure about a pick from his childhood.

However, the United star admitted that he holds fond memories of matches that he has been able to watch live from the bench during his emergence in the first team.

Speaking on the favourite United match he has watched, Mainoo said: “I don’t know. I don’t know about ever, from my childhood.

“I can only say, from recent memory, I mean I’ve enjoyed a lot of games where I’ve been on the bench.

“I’ve said this before but like, last season, against City at home. That was when Old Trafford was bouncing then and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed that a lot.

“I mean, being on the bench means you’re so close to it. Even though I’m not playing, it’s still amazing to have that atmosphere and be close to the game like that.”
