What Moises Caicedo must now do to avoid getting two-game suspension at Chelsea

Chelsea are at risk of losing Moises Caicedo for a couple of games.

It is a scenario that Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to avoid, as the Chelsea manager has relied on the midfielder heavily this season.

Under him, Moises Caicedo has played almost 40 matches in all competitions.

The 22-year-old will be expected to start tonight when Chelsea host Everton at Stamford Bridge.

If Caicedo does, then he has to be extremely careful. One BBC pundit thinks he has really struggled this season.

How close is Moises Caicedo to being suspended?

Very. He picked up a yellow card in Chelsea’s 4-3 win against Manchester United earlier this month, his ninth of the campaign.

As per the club’s official website, Caicedo now needs to avoid getting cautioned until after his side’s clash versus Arsenal at the Emirates next week if he does not want to be handed a two-game suspension.

Nicolas Jackson is also in the same situation as his team-mate.

The striker is on nine yellow cards as well and will have to serve a two-match ban if he is shown another before the end of the Arsenal game.

Chelsea’s ill-discipline this season

Chelsea’s lack of discipline has been one of many problems at Stamford Bridge this term. Jackson, a centre-forward, being on nine yellows card probably epitomises things.

Reece James, Conor Gallagher and Malo Gusto have all been shown reds in the Premier League as well.

It is something that Pochettino has to get the team to work on next season. Now would be great, but at this point, you just would not be surprised if both Caicedo and Jackson were cautioned tonight.

That would give Pochettino another headache at a time where the Argentine probably has enough already. With how Chelsea’s season has gone, you cannot help but feel at least one of them is going to get booked before the cut-off point for suspension.
