'Probably be sold': Manchester United now tipped to sell £86m man this summer

With Erik ten Hag more than likely to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, there could be a number of players that either decide, or are told to join the Dutch manager in exiting Old Trafford.

It is fair to say that the majority of ten Hag‘s signings have not worked out at Manchester United. Even if, they might have initially impressed – Casemiro being the prime example. He was poor on the weekend.

Everyone will have seen Jamie Redknapp’s ‘Soccer Aid’ criticism of the Brazil icon, by now. Mason Mount and Andre Onana are two of his most-expensive signings and have both struggled to prove their worth.

Both Chris Sutton and Don Hutchison have claimed that boss ten Hag will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season – and it seems more then likely at this stage. They might even struggle to get Europe.

Who could follow Erik ten Hag out of Manchester United?

But perhaps the biggest failing of ten Hag’s spell in charge at Manchester United is spending a whopping £85m to reunite with Antony. The Brazilian is the club’s second-most expensive signing after Paul Pogba.

There was a feeling United overpaid when they signed him. Cody Gakpo joined Liverpool for less than half of Antony’s price tag and had much better stats in the Eredivisie. That has come to fruition, at United.

Described as “useless”, Antony has managed just 10 goals in 77 games for Manchester United – and only two this season, both of which have come in the FA Cup. Don Hutchison says United will try to sell him.

The former Premier League midfielder told ESPN FC that he reckons Antony could be one of six senior players at Old Trafford that are moved on in the summer, along with Marcus Rashford, potentially to PSG.

Don Hutchison predicts six to leave Man United, including Antony

“So many players need to be moved on. Anthony Martial won’t get a contract extension. Similar problems with Raphael Varane, Christian Eriksen who are coming towards the end of their careers,” Hutchison said.

“Jadon Sancho is not even at the football club, Antony will probably be sold as well. There’s a lot of debate over Marcus Rashford – could he join PSG?” the pundit continued, predicting as many as six to go.

Eriksen, Varane and certainly Martial could all be on the move – the latter out of contract in the summer. The issue with Sancho is that he cost a huge fee. United won’t want to sell the England man for a big loss.

But you would imagine that they will have to accept defeat on Antony and admit defeat in overspending on him initially. If they were offered anything over £30m, you would have to say it is worth accepting.
