Maci Bookout went from Teen Mom to Naked and Afraid, facing 14 days in the jungles of Nicaragua. Left to fend herself, the reality TV star tapped out after just 24 hours, despite vowing not to give up.
She launched to fame on Teen Mom after falling pregnant at a young age. Fans had high hopes for Maci Bookout, who thought she’d soar high on Naked and Afraid after the hardships of teenage parenthood.

Maci Bookout starred on Naked and Afraid for one episode – season 9 episode 12 – in 2018. From thorns in her foot to a freak injury putting her and Justin at risk, it was a tough journey for the star.
She started a campfire, and the pair put together a rudimentary platform to sleep on, but Bookout had a hard time getting comfortable that first night. The star knew she’d “suck for sure” on the series.
“When I watch this show the one thing that drives me crazy is people quit way too early,” Bookout said when the competition got underway. “Like, they don’t even give themselves a chance.”
Teen Mom star’s feet ‘came apart’
Maci revealed her feet were “coming apart” because of the thorns in the jungle. She had to ask for a piggy back to move around by her on-screen living partner, who ended up with growing pus in his own foot.
She said it felt like her “feet were dying,” adding with tears in her eyes, “Everything hurts. Sitting on the couch watching this show is not the same. It’s really hard.”
Maci couldn’t take how hard the experiment was and ended up leaving the show after 24 hours. The Teen Mom star said herself how she “hated it” when people tapped out, yet made the same move.
“Coming into this, I 100% was confident in myself, but it’s easy as a fan to say that because you don’t feel like you’re standing in a f***ing fire because your feet hurt so bad,” she said.
