'Opportunity': Leeds urged to sign 28-year-old on a free, he scored three times against Marcelo Bielsa's side

Leeds United’s summer window will look very different if the club can manage to gain promotion at the end of the season – and a bit more experience will likely be the order of the day for Daniel Farke.

Currently in third, Leeds have stuttered in recent weeks after going to the top of the table – losing two and failing to win any of the last three Championship matches. But, they are only a point off the top two.

Should Leeds remain in the Championship, you can expect many players to go. Those out on loan, and those who may have only decided to stay for a year in case the club earned promotion straight away.

But, promotion means Leeds will look to buy – to offload players that they don’t want and a striker could be at the top of the list. Patrick Bamford’s excellent form after the new year has dried up in recent games.

Carlton Palmer wants Leeds to sign Southampton star

Joel Piroe is nowhere near the striker we saw at the start of the season. Mateo Joseph looks a real talent, but he remains unproven. Leeds need a striker that is proven in the Premier League, this summer.

Che Adams is certainly that. Constantly linked with Leeds, Victor Orta once said that the Whites were inches away from landing the 28-year-old during Marcelo Bielsa’s reign. He is currently at Southampton.

But, he sees his contract expire in the summer. Wolves and Leeds are eyeing the Scotland striker on a free, if promoted. Carlton Palmer has reacted to the reports on FLW, saying he would like Adams at Leeds.

“For Leeds to have any chance of signing Che Adams they’ve got to be in the Premier League. Then it’s the opportunity of playing. Che won’t want to go to Wolves on the bench, or anywhere sat on the bench.

“But I think it would be a good move. I’d like to see him at Leeds United, but I think it would be a good move for Wolves and Gary O’Neil if they were able to capture his signature,” former Leeds man Palmer.

Che Adams stats in the Premier League, record against Leeds

Adams’ form in the Premier League is one to debate. He has 25 goals in 124 Premier League games, 13 assists. Not particularly eye-catching. But, Adams has not always played up top – or started, for Saints.

He’s started just 88 of those 124, completing 90 minutes just 42 times. Adams has also created 13 goals. He is a solid Premier League player that will score, create and work hard. On a free, a no-brainer.

A move that feels like it has been a long time coming given he almost joined Leeds in 2019 – a player that scored three times against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds in the Argentine’s first season at Elland Road.
