Newcastle United now mock £43m Tottenham player on social media after what happened on Saturday

Newcastle United are continuing to celebrate their incredible victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

A few days have passed since the Magpies thrashed Tottenham 4-0 at St James’ Park, but the feel-good factor continues to dominate Tyneside.

For the first time in a while this season, there is a lot of positivity surrounding Newcastle United. It has been a very challenging campaign, yet Eddie Howe’s side suddenly find themselves up in sixth place. They could even finish as high as fifth, providing a lot of results go their way.

The win over Tottenham was special, and it came on a day when everything seemed to go right. There was so much to celebrate, while it was the second year in a row that the Magpies have embarrassed Spurs on Tyneside.

Last season it was the 6-1 demolition that resulted in Spurs fans getting a refund, and this year Newcastle were just as devastating.

Ange Postecoglou’s side froze at St James’ Park, with their big players failing to deliver.

Tottenham’s stars struggle against Newcastle

We saw James Maddison massively struggle, on what was his first appearance against Newcastle since joining Spurs ahead of them. He was booed relentlessly, and failed to silence the crowd with an abject display.

Elsewhere, Son Heung-Min was largely anonymous, shut down by Fabian Schar who followed him everywhere he went.

Offensively, Spurs were poor, but they were even worse at the back. And that was epitomised by Micky van de Ven.

Newcastle mock Micky van de Ven on social media

The 22-year-old has been heralded as one of the signings of the season, arriving at Tottenham for £43million from Wolfsburg.

His recovery speed is seen as one of his biggest assets, and it made for an interesting battle up against Newcastle’s speedy front three.

But Van de Ven was embarrassed during the first half, first by Alexander Isak and then by Anthony Gordon.

The Dutch defender slipped over during the buildup of Newcastle’s opening two goals, and it has led to him being widely mocked on social media.

X (formerly known as Twitter) users have had great fun laughing at the face Van de Ven pulled as he tumbled to the floor before Isak’s first goal, and now Newcastle United have got involved.

They have posted a TikTok of Tino Livramento talking to Isak after the game, with the defender saying: “For your goal, did you see what happened to their centre-back?”

The video then shows a still image of Isak preparing to shoot while the Spurs youngster is on the floor, with laughter playing in the background.

Tottenham took aim at Callum Wilson last year

It is a good bit of banter from the Newcastle United social media team, although it may anger Spurs fans. However, it is only fair after they mocked Callum Wilson last year.

During the reverse fixture earlier this season, Richarlison scored twice as Tottenham won 4-1.

After the game, they posted a TikTok of Richarlison celebrating, with audio from the Footballer’s Football Podcast playing in the background. In the clip, Wilson and Michail Antonio can be heard mocking the Brazilian forward for his lack of goals.

Spurs also mocked Wilson on X, as they took great pride in seeing Richarlison bag a brace.

It was all good fun from the Spurs social media team, but now Newcastle have got their own back.
