Florida slugger Jac Caglianone has hit some bombs in college, but few have traveled as far as the one he hit on Tuesday night in a game against Jacksonville.

As Caglianone striped an 0-1 pitch, announcer Jeff Cardozo cautioned viewers that they might be about to see some sparks fly.

“Another fastball, look out face on the scoreboard!” Cardozo said. “That actually might hit it. That went OVER the scoreboard, ladies and gentleman, here at the Condron Ballpark. Another jack for Jac. Twenty-first of the year and now seven straight games that he has left the yard.”

Check out the monster hit below.

Jac Caglianone has been on a tear lately, one of the real bright spots for Florida in a season that has otherwise been a little disappointing due to inconsistent pitching.

He has hit home runs in each of his last seven games. He recently took charge of second place all time in the school record books for career home runs.

With Tuesday night’s bomb, Caglianone now has 61 career home runs. He’s just 13 away from the school record of 74, set by Matt LaPorta. But it’s worth nothing that LaPorta hit that total in four full years of college action, while Caglianone is currently only in his third season.

Caglianone hit seven home runs as a freshman, then exploded to hit 33 — good for the national lead — during his sophomore season a year ago. Of course, that run was aided by a deep College World Series run.

Georgia‘s Charlie Condon currently holds the national lead for home runs, sitting on 24 entering Tuesday night’s games. Jac Caglianone now trails him by just three, alone in second place nationally.
