Man Utd fans deeply divided about Jadon Sancho after Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League win, the reaction says it all

Manchester United fans are deeply divided after Jadon Sancho’s superb performance for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday evening.

Jadon Sancho has been in first-team action at Borussia Dortmund after he returned to the Bundesliga club in January on a loan deal from Manchester United.

The 24-year-old United winger had made only three Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this season before his high-profile rift with manager Erik ten Hag.

Sancho was excluded from the United first team after the Borussia Dortmund player hit back on social media following Erik ten Hag’s public criticism of him.

The United loanee’s long-term future at Old Trafford remains in doubt amid his feud with Ten Hag, with Sancho reportedly refusing to apologise to the Dutchman.

Sancho has since been able to put his career back on track with his return to Dortmund, with the United winger seeing out the rest of the season at the club.

Sancho performs in Champions League for Dortmund

Jadon Sancho has made 14 appearances for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions since the start of his six-month loan spell at the German side.

The Manchester United player featured in the full 90 minutes against Atletico Madrid in the first-leg 2-1 defeat in the Champions League quarter-finals.

However, Dortmund were able to turn the tide in the return leg and sealed an emphatic 4-2 win over Atletico Madrid at the Westfalenstadion.

Sancho started the second-leg quarter-final tie and impressed with his performance, with former United teammate Marcel Sabitzer making a real impact for Dortmund.

The ex-England international played 86 minutes of the Champions League tie before he made way for Dortmund teammate Salih Ozcan.

Dortmund will now face Paris Saint-Germain, who caused a stunning 4-1 quarter-final upset over Barcelona, in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Man Utd fans react to Sancho’s performance

United fans took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and had their say on Sancho after Dortmund secured their place in the semi-finals.

Some Red Devils supporters praised Sancho and wanted him back at Old Trafford, while others dismissed the idea of him returning to the United first team.

One fan wrote: “Sancho doing touchline winger things. Meanwhile, [Man United have] [Marcus] Rashford, who’s best in and around the box, doing that role. SMH.”

Another added: “‘Sabitzer and Jadon Sancho would walk into this United team…’ The United team they underperformed in 12 months ago? How are people’s memories so short?”

A third posted: “Sancho has been pulling the strings and linking up play constantly, been a threat throughout [as] Dortmund utilise him properly [and] use him to his strengths, happy for him. Hope they sign him as well.”

Someone else added: “I’m sorry, Manchester United fans, but this Sancho I’m watching? Erik [ten Hag] has to leave so he can come back!”

“I wish Sancho all the best with his career, as long as he doesn’t come anywhere near Manchester United,” another tweeted.

While a sixth wrote: “Sancho on his way to a [Champions League] semi-final while Manchester United [are] fighting so hard to qualify [for the] Conference League!”

Somebody else said: “Imagine if Jadon Sancho wins the Champions League with Dortmund and scores [a] hat-trick in the final.”
