Edu Gaspar sends seven-word message to Arsenal squad after Bayern Munich defeat

Edu Gaspar has sent a message on Instagram to the Arsenal squad after last night’s UEFA Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.

The Gunners’ saw their European dream come to an end as a Joshua Kimmich goal was all it took for Bayern to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League, with Arsenal not taking their chances and being too passive on the night.

With Bukayo Saka having arguably his worst game yet in an Arsenal shirt, it was a game where the stars didn’t come out to shine for the north London side, with Mikel Arteta learning some hard lessons in what it takes to win European football.

And sporting director Edu had a message for the Arsenal squad at full-time.

Edu ‘proud’ of Arsenal despite Champions League loss to Bayern Munich

Taking to Instagram stories, Edu was full of praise for Arsenal’s players despite being eliminated from Europe, with the Brazilian transfer official writing: “I am so proud of you guys,” at the full-time whistle in Munich.

Whilst Arsenal were somewhat scared in front of goal in registering just three shots on target, the north London side were hardly outplayed by Bayern on the night, with the Gunners having a solid 48% of the ball.

Indeed, making it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 14 years is quite the achievement from Arteta, especially with how inexperienced this Arsenal team is in the Champions League compared to everyone else.

And next year could see Arsenal go even further in the competition with an extra year of experience behind them and new signings who should be Champions League-proven, with this tournament something the Gunners clearly want to win.

New signings could help Arsenal achieve Champions League dream

Arsenal are very much at the start of an exciting journey under Arteta in the Champions League, with the goal of winning Europe’s biggest prize something that the Basque coach could one day achieve with the right signings.

And this summer could see Arsenal do just that, with Edu tasked with finding the north London side a new leading striker as well as a true replacement for Saka on the right-wing.

With a number of fringe players in need of being sold as well, Arsenal could make some serious moves this summer, with the north London side still one of the most exciting teams in all of Europe.
