'He will be here...': Paul Warne now shares Derby County injury boost ahead of final two fixtures

Derby County boss Paul Warne has provided an encouraging update on striker Tyreece John-Jules ahead of their final two matches.

Derby captured highly-rated striker Tyreece John-Jules on loan from Arsenal last summer.

The 23-year-old arrived at Pride Park following loan spells at various EFL clubs, including Blackpool, Lincoln City and Ipswich Town.

Described by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta as the “complete player”, there was huge hype surrounding his arrival in Derbyshire, although injuries have prevented him from fulfilling that prophecy.

It had been feared that John-Jules’s season was over after sustaining a hamstring injury in the defeat to Reading in December with the on-loan forward requiring surgery.

The youngster subsequently returned to the Emirates for his rehabilitation process with a fresh update now emerging on the striker’s fitness.

John-Jules’s injury troubles have restricted him to just 12 League One appearances this term, though he has contributed significantly by scoring the winner with his first touch in the 1-0 away win at Port Vale.

Rams supporters saw glimpses of his talents, and while injury has robbed him of showing it regularly, Warne’s latest update will fill everyone with encouragement.

As per the Derby Telegraph, he revealed that the strikers’ rehabilitation has gone well and the Gunners have given him the green light to return to Pride Park.

“I am going to speak to him in a bit because he is coming back into training next week.

“That is good news and if he looks amazing and is better than everybody else he could play the following week – I don’t care. But if we are in the play-offs, he will be here for that. I want him to be here with the group. He has played a part this season and he is a great kid. I will look forward to seeing his smiley face.”

Tyreece John-Jules deserves promotion

John-Jules nearly left Warne reduced to tears when discussing the forwards’ injury plight in January, but the pair will be reduced to tears of happiness if Derby can seal a promotion.

The Rams are currently four points away from guaranteeing their return to the Championship, with just a draw and win needed against Cambridge and Carlisle.

It is hoped that John-Jules will take to the field on the final day with Derby needing just a point against relegated Carlisle to wrap up promotion.

Following a horrendous season of injury setbacks, it’s the least he deserves and hopefully, his return to the fold will be the start of a brighter future for the young striker.
