Ange Postecoglou has now personally identified £52m midfielder for Daniel Levy to sign at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur manager has now personally identified a midfielder who he wants to sign this summer.

Since being made the manager of Tottenham last summer, Daniel Levy has provided Ange Postecoglou with a number of new signings.

And the large majority of those additions have proven to be incredibly good buys from Spurs with most of them impacting the squad positively.

There has been the odd one which is still yet to bear fruit like Alejo Veliz, however, the likes of Micky van de Ven and Brennan Johnson both look like quality additions.

It now seems as if the Australian has eyed up a potential target for the Spurs hierarchy to go after in the upcoming summer window.

It has been a positive season, on the whole, for Spurs, but results like the weekend show there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Ange Postecoglou thinks 25-year-old would be perfect for Tottenham

Over the summer, Tottenham signed James Maddison from Leicester City as they finally looked to replace Christian Eriksen in that creative role.

And the early signs were extremely positive with Maddison picking up the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.

The midfielder was thriving in this Postecoglou side, but his injury in November has derailed his season slightly with the 27-year-old yet to rediscover his form.

He has not received much competition from Giovani Lo Celso this season with Postecoglou not handing the Argentine many opportunities.

And now GiveMeSport are reporting Postecoglou has identified RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo as the perfect player to fit his system.

Spurs are said to need to fend off some stern competition if they wish to land the Spaniard this summer with other Premier League club’s circling.

But he could certainly offer some serious competition to Maddison for the starting spot in the playmaker role.

Olmo has already been rated at a valuation of £52m ahead of the summer.

Interesting Dani Olmo stats that show he may be an upgrade on James Maddison

When you compare the two seasons of Maddison and Olmo, there are a lot of similarities to be drawn.

Both of them have provided returns around the double figure mark for goal contributions and both have sustained injuries which have sidelined them for months.

However, what is a big difference is the way the pair have performed since returning from their injury issues earlier in the season.

Maddison’s form since his injury has been a real concern and perhaps the England international will need the summer to get himself right.

But the way Olmo has bounced back to form after his issue is mightily impressive and could offer Spurs the boost they need when Maddison is stuck in the rut like he is currently.
