Chris Sutton has made a claim ahead of Coventry City’s FA Cup semi-final with Manchester United this weekend which he believes may lead some to describe him as an idiot.
There is surely no doubt which team Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea would have all hoped to get in the semi-final draw.
Ultimately, it was Erik ten Hag’s men who will face Championship opposition for a place in the final. It appears to be a big boost for a United boss who could surely do with winning some silverware this season.
However, Coventry will not make it easy for United. The Sky Blues have spent much of the campaign in contention for the play-off places in the second tier.

And Mark Robins’ men made a real statement with their win over Wolves in the previous round.
With that, Chris Sutton has told It’s All Kicking Off that the game is actually just too hard to call at this stage.
“I think it’s a 50/50 game. You might think I’m an idiot for saying that,” he said.
“I think you speak about Coventry’s recent form. But I don’t think Manchester United, this particular Manchester United team with the greatest respect are going to strike the fear of god into the Coventry players.
“They beat a decent Wolves team to get to this stage. They will be organised and they will carry a threat. This isn’t a foregone conclusion. It’s actually a bit of a nightmare game for Erik ten Hag.”
Sky Blues have nothing to fear
It has been more than 23 years since Coventry faced Manchester United in a league game. But the one meeting since then will perhaps give the Sky Blues some confidence.
Of course, many Coventry fans will remember the 2-0 League Cup win in 2007 where Michael Mifsud scored both of the goals.
This Coventry team are no strangers to Wembley either. They went all the way to penalties against Luton Town in last year’s Championship play-off final.
Coventry’s players will know what an amazing opportunity they have got this weekend. So while Manchester United should have the quality to get across the line, ten Hag will be imploring his squad to leave nothing to chance.
