Duke and Kansas are reportedly finalizing an agreement to play a neutral site game in Las Vegas next season, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
“NEWS: Duke and Kansas are working to finalize an agreement to play a neutral site game next November in Las Vegas, according to multiple sources,” Rothstein wrote on Twitter.
According to Rothstein, there is no timetable on an official announcement for the game. The date and venue is also to-be-determined.
Duke finished the 2023-24 campaign 27-9 in Jon Scheyer’s second season. The Blue Devils lost to Cinderella story NC State in the Elite Eight.
Meanwhile, Kansas finished 23-11 and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, losing to Gonzaga.
The Duke-Kansas matchup could be quite interesting next season. Blue Devils star Jeremy Roach entered the NCAA transfer portal and Kansas star Hunter Dickinson pledged Roach to join the Jayhawks.
Roach and Dickinson were teammates on Team Takeover in the EYBL during the 2018-19 season before they went their separate ways in college. Dickinson chose Michigan before transferring to Kansas last year while Roach headed to Duke to play for Mike Krzyzewski and later Jon Scheyer.
Roach spent the last four seasons at Duke and is coming off the best season of his career. He averaged 14 points and 3.3 rebounds, both of which were new career-highs, as the Blue Devils made a run to the Elite Eight. Roach still has one more year of eligibility if he wants it thanks to the blanket COVID-19 waiver during the 2020-21 season.
