Report: Chelsea are in talks to sign ‘world-class’ player at the end of this season

Reports have claimed that Chelsea are in talks to complete one big signing already this summer.

According to Caught Offside, the Blues are in negotiations to complete an expensive deal, however things are far from moving at a rapid rate.

Chelsea are reportedly set to be back in the market in a big way at the end of the season, after missing out on any permanent signings during the January window.

The last addition they made was actually the one of Cole Palmer, who has surely already gone on to become the best signing the club has made under the ownership of Todd Boehly.

One position it is believed they are keen to strengthen in this summer is the striker role, with Napoli star Victor Osimhen reportedly at the top of their list.

He has proven to be arguably the best striker in Serie A over the last two years or so, with former Roma and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho describing him as ‘world-class’.

There is perhaps no surprise then that the Blues have been monitoring for some time, and are reportedly in talks to sign him.

However, it has been claimed that they are going to need to facilitate some sales from the club before being able to make a signing the magnitude of Osimhen.

A number of homegrown players are reportedly potentially on the chopping block, with them representing a clear path to boosting their financial situation.

Ian Maatsen feels like one player who is likely to leave, after impressing greatly for Champions League semi-finalists Borussia Dortmund.

Another who could still be sold is Conor Gallagher, despite the fact that he has been a crucial player for the Blues this season.

If he was to be sold, it would be a serious statement of their lack of backing in manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has made it clear just how much he has relied on the England international.
