Oscar-nominated German actress Sandra Hüller, who shot to stardom with recent films "Anatomy of a Fall" and "Zone of Interest," will celebrate her directorial debut at the Neues Theater in the eastern German city of Halle next year.

Together with Tom Schneider, Hüller will stage "Penthesile:a:s," a work by the contemporary playwright Marie Dilasser based on Romantic writer Heinrich von Kleist's dramatic epic "Penthesilea."

The production was announced by the theatre organization Bühnen Halle on Friday. The production will be the German-language premiere of the play.

The play is set to open on April 17, 2025.

The announcement described Dilasser's play as "linguistically overwhelming" and follows on from Heinrich von Kleist's adaptation. It is about two people, two opinions and two views of the world.

Kleist's work, written in 1808 and drawn from ancient mythology, follows the Amazonian queen Penthesilea and the Greek hero Achilles.
