Gabriel Jesus explains why Arsenal still have 'big chance' of title glory despite defeats

Arsenal have suffered a damaging week in their season with back-to-back defeats against Aston Villa and Bayern Munich potentially ending their hopes of a trophy this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now out of the Champions League after their loss in Munich, but there will be little time to recover as they travel to Wolves today to continue their title challenge.

Arsenal will need to return to winning ways and hit their best form again, whilst also hoping Manchester City drop points in their final fixtures, if they are to win their first title since 2004.

Striker Gabriel Jesus was criticised for his performances in both games, but he has now defended his team, claiming that nothing is over in the title race despite the disastrous week.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jesus admitted that this week has been a tough one, but stated that the title race is far from over.

“I think it was a little bit disappointing for everyone at the club, especially for the players obviously because we want to win games,” he stated of the last two results.

“We have a very good experience for this season from last season if you understand me, because we were in the final games with the chance to win the league, and then unfortunately we struggled a little bit.

“This season I think we had the same opportunity and then unfortunately we lost a game, but there are still 6 games to play, and then nothing is lost. We have a big chance.”

Jesus has emphasised the fact that there are still six games remaining, but Arsenal cannot afford any more slip-ups.

They need to recover from their drop in form with a win at Wolves, before then facing Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur within the next week, and if they are to drop points now, they will fall further behind Manchester City.

Arsenal could not afford to let City overtake them in the league, but their defeat against Villa was damaging, and it has been claimed by Trent Alexander-Arnold that the Gunners got too carried away after watching Liverpool lose just before, rather than focusing on their own game, and they now need to be ruthless.
