Report: 'Exceptional' Newcastle player will not play again this season despite avoiding serious injury

Newcastle United have not been lucky with injuries this season.

While blaming them and the fatigue that results from relying on so few players might be too lazy an explanation as to some of Newcastle’s struggles this season, the crisis cannot be ignored.

Indeed, Eddie Howe has already admitted to making mistakes when it comes to dealing with injured players.

Clearly, conversations will need to be had at the end of the season. Such has been the extent of the crisis this season, the sheer number of injuries Howe has had to contend with surely cannot just be down to something as abstract as luck.

Still, Newcastle are now in a good position again after a dramatic turnaround in form following the international break.

They are in the driving seat for a place in the top six and can perhaps afford to rest at least some players right now.

That all brings us to Lewis Miley.

Latest Lewis Miley injury update at Newcastle

The teenager has been hailed as “exceptional” by Jason Tindall after a meteoric rise this season.

Miley has shone at the tender age of 17 during an otherwise difficult campaign for the club.

He, however, suffered a back injury while playing for England U20 during last month’s international break.

According to the Daily Mail, Miley has avoided serious injury and is feeling good about his fitness.

Despite that, Newcastle are likely to tell the teenager to rest up for the rest of the season in order to let the injury full heal, rather than taking any risks.

Newcastle have made a great decision about Lewis Miley’s injury

Howe has previously spoken about the complicated nature of Miley’s injury, so caution would be wise.

We’ve seen Elliot Anderson return following a difficult back injury and go onto impress, making Newcastle’s risk-free approach seem worth it.

Miley has so much of his career ahead of him that taking risks would be pointless in the short-term.
